The Taiowa Center for Understanding (CFU) was established to help guide people to fully embrace their true Spiritual selves. Many traditional religions have lost their way. People are searching for alternatives as their Souls hunger to be one with the Divine. Taiowa CFU integrates Native American Spirituality with the teachings of Jesus, the Christ, and the common Spiritual threads weaving through other religious traditions. There are many paths to the Divine. Taiowa CFU is one.
Rev. Carl
Rev. Carl was born in a small upstate New York community and his early spiritual learning experiences were in a fundamentalist Christian church. He was told of a jealous and vengeful God who demanded our fealty and that we had to practice our faith in a certain way or face Hell’s damnation. At a young age, Carl began to question church dogma and rituals as being superficial and designed to control a person’s behavior rather than foster spiritual growth and unity with a loving God.
As a result, Rev. Carl began to rebel against church teachings and seek his own way. After several years in the wilderness, Rev. Carl turned back to God and his master teacher, Jesus of Nazareth. Subsequently, Rev. Carl earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University at Buffalo and a Master of Arts degree from Binghamton University. He worked extensively in the public sector with and on behalf of people with disabilities. He also worked in not-for-profit and private sectors providing services and products to help improve the quality of people’s lives.
In 1987 Rev. Carl was told he had Native American heritage by his paternal grandmother, who died shortly thereafter. His grandmother had the ability to prophesy, to foretell the future. His mother also had this ability.
Since he was a young boy, Rev. Carl received messages and guidance from what he describes as another dimension. When he retired from public service in 2011, Rev. Carl decided to explore his Native American heritage, spirituality, and his Christian beliefs. He attended ordination school at Fellowships of the Spirit in Cassadaiga, New York, receiving ordination as a Christian Spiritualist minister in 2013.
Rev. Carl has conducted hundreds of individual spiritual healing sessions as well as providing messages of healing from the spiritual dimension. He continues his study of Native American spiritualism and how it can help people find their true selves and contribute to returning Mother Earth to health. To learn more about what Rev. Carl does, please visit the services page.
Our Logo
Rev. Carl was led to design the logo on our T-shirt by ‘Spirit’ for the Taiowa Center for Understanding. Taiowa is a Native American (Hopi) name for the Divine (God). The logo has powerful healing and balancing energy. Rev. Carl drew it by hand without rulers, which enhanced its energy.
The square with the X inside it is a depiction of looking down at the top of a pyramid. It has Yin, female energy, relaxing and healing. If you place a pendulum over the X in the square, the pendulum will spin counter-clockwise. It has an area of influence that benefits the entire body.
Within the square, Rev. Carl had drawn four symbols – Infinity, which reflects the Divine (all that is) and the lightning bolt representing the energy from above. Both of these symbols have Yang (male) energy. A pendulum will spin clockwise when held over each of these symbols.
The other two symbols, the tree and the animal, represent Earth energy and are Yin (female). A pendulum will spin counter-clockwise when held over them.
The symbols are placed within the square with the X inside in such a way as to provide balance to the healing energy field. The Infinity sign (Grandfather Sky) and the tree (Grandmother Earth) balance each other. The lightning bolt (Yang) and the animal (Yin) also balance each other. In addition, the Infinity sign and the lightning bolt (Yang) on the left balance the tree and the animal (Yin) on the right.
In Eastern and Native American Spirituality it is important to have balanced energy for good health, not too much Yin or Yang. The logo represents the balanced energy Taiowa provided all of creation. Wear it in good health. Peace and Blessings.
