False Prophets

In my first blog I briefly touched on the need for discernment. I stated a word of caution to those of you seeking and/or walking your spiritual path. Use discernment. Beware of false prophets. Ee-shua (Jesus) said, “Be careful that no man deceives you.” (Matthew 24:4). He also said, “beware of false prophets who come to you in lamb’s clothing, but within are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15).

In today’s world we are being inundated with information by ‘influencers’, religious and political pundits, corporate advertising, and extremists who attempt to influence public opinion in support of their agendas. This overabundance of information requires each of us to check the integrity of the messages and those of the people promoting them.

Ee-shua came as a shepherd to grow and safeguard his flock and lead us to become one with the Divine. In the case of the present world (dis)order, a saying that may be relevant is, if you are a sheep, expect to be sheared. I recommend you avoid and ignore people who spread their messages by invoking fears, anger, hate, and division to support their agendas.

When I was a cub scout, our leaders took us on a bivouac in the winter. We went to a camp for the day to practice learning certain skills, one of which was to find people who had wandered into the woods. Two scout leaders headed into the woods and after a brief period we were sent to find them. One of my peers, who had certain leadership abilities, said to follow him. We did, running up and down hills looking for our scout leaders to no avail. When we dragged ourselves back into camp, they were there waiting for us. I was upset we had followed my peer with no thought of whether he knew what he was doing.

After lunch, the scout leaders repeated the exercise. I pulled aside my closest friend in the troop and told him to follow me. Right after the scout leaders had run off into the woods, I walked over to where they had stood and checked their footprints in the snow. While the rest of the troop ran up and down hills following the leader of the pack, we followed the footprints. In short, we found them and were back in camp, rewarded with candy, when the rest of the pack came straggling in.

Use discernment. Follow the footsteps. Spirit is always giving us signs and messages. Open your eyes and your hearts. Let love, forgiveness, and compassion be your guiding lights.

Peace and Blessings. Please feel free to share this blog with your networks.
